- Students are as au fait with technology as many would have us believe. Just because a student can set the Sky+ box and is a champion gamer does not mean they can navigate their way onto an online platform and reset their password if needed!
- A far higher number of students than I had anticipated find it difficult to read an email and act upon the instructions it contains (this could of course be a problem with my writing style but I’m inclined to think not in this instance!).
- Maths seems to be head and shoulders above most other subjects in the range and quality of meaningful activities that are available on a range of online platforms (Dr Frost Maths, Hegarty Maths, Mathswatch etc.). On most such platforms students have access to online videos or lessons, have questions instantly marked to a high degree of accuracy, can practise freely, can receive personal feedback from their teachers along with a wealth of other features that lend themselves to effective long term learning.
